APPLICATION PROCESS
The process begins right here by familiarizing yourself with all that StoneRidge has to offer. You'll also get an idea of whether StoneRidge is the right "fit" for you. Many of your questions will be answered after fully exploring this Website. The next step is to call 717-866-3200 (or toll-free 800-223-5704) to request a tour. On many occasions current StoneRidge residents are able to provide the tours, providing first-hand insight into what life at StoneRidge is really like. You'll see the entire facility and if available, various different unit models including a furnished apartment or cottage of a current resident.
It is important that before submitting an application you select the specific apartment or cottage model you desire to occupy as our financial approval process will be based on the cost of the specific model you are interested in.
The application fee is $150.00, which is non-refundable. All independent living applications are processed for financial approval personally by Steven J. Reiter, CPA, President and CEO. We do not utilize an approval "committee" and therefore can provide a decision in a much more timely manner provided that all requested information and documentation has been supplied. We do not ask for any disclosure of financial information nor do we require any reservation deposit to be submitted prior to completing the application.
Important Notes:
1. It is important that all requested information is provided. Supporting documentation must be present to verify all account balances and assets listed. Failure to supply current documentation and account statements slows the process considerably, as we must contact you to receive those items. Be sure to include any monthly expenses for prescriptions and health insurance for each person listed on the application. Please pay special attention to the request for Federal tax returns as well.
2. StoneRidge is a Continuing Care Retirement Center (CCRC) and the assumption is made in 100% of the applications received that some period of time during residency will be spent in Assisted Living and/or Skilled Nursing Care. The average per resident at StoneRidge is 32 months. Financial approval for all applications is predicated not only on the assets needed for independent living, but for a 32-month stay in healthcare as well.
3. We are frequently asked by prospective StoneRidge residents and/or their families: "What happens if my money runs out?" The simple answer is that when financial approval is granted to an applicant(s), we've done our due diligence to assure that the assets are present to provide for any level of care required during your residency with us be it independent living, assisted living or skilled nursing care. StoneRidge is an entrance-fee based community with strict financial qualifications for entry. Financial approval will not be granted for those applications which fail to meet those qualifications.
4. Another question frequently asked is: "Must I complete the health/medical portion if I just want to know if I'll get financially approved?" The answer is "yes" in most cases, unless extenuating circumstances exist. While we do not predicate approval on health status, it is a significant component, especially where substantial prescription costs are incurred each month. We prefer not to "piecemeal" applications into various components; please submit the application when completed in its entirety.
Upon receiving financial approval, we will ask for a $1,000.00 non-refundable reservation deposit to hold the specific unit in your name while you coordinate the details of your move to StoneRidge. We generally require a move-in date within 6 months of receiving the deposit. The deposit is 100% applied to your entrance-fee (Traditional and Asset Preservation Plans) or monthly fee (Monthly Plan).
The last piece of the process is an interview with our Vice President of Clinical Services to review the medical portion of the application and to discuss any specific medical needs or concerns. You will also receive a cognitive assessment to verify that independent living is appropriate.
